Keely
This post is a "unique" post.
Why?
Because I don't usually write specifics on the people in my life. However, a certain somebody requested (begged) for it to be done.
Meet KEELY SUE CAMPION...
We have been friends for over 11 years.
She is the craziest person I know and I am yet to meet another who can introduce themselves by alerting them of her extreme enjoyment of cheese or licking their face.
The Meeting
When: One September afternoon
Where: GCSE Math class (we were both re-taking)
Venue: Clarendon College, Nottingham
This strange blonde turned to me and asked if I had a spare calculator. Who comes to maths without a calculator? Clearly, she needed help and thus started our friendship.
Our time is maths was 40% learning and 60% of the following:
1. Filing in our maths booklets with names of beloved fictional characters such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer or any one of the Disney princesses. This included description of bad-assness and abilities.
2. Constantly referencing the greatest movies of all time Bring It On, Clueless and Legally Blonde.
3. Telling our teacher, Siohban, "She could use some mascara and some serious highlights, but she's not completely unfortunate looking." Thanks Elle Woods. Luckily she laughed
4. Turning our 15 minute breaks to 30 minutes
5. Disturbing the boy we hung out with in his science lesson down the corridor by making faces at him through the tiny window.
6. Experiencing the substitute teacher Peter....and his "2 hour hard on"
7. Being told by the same substitute teacher that all 3 of us (including our friend Aimee) was to sit in all 4 corners of the room. Apparently we were being disrupting
8. Being taught the Stem and Leaf Diagram and being asked what the next steps were...
Me: "colour it in"
Keely: "colour between the lines"
9. Finding "Connor" any chance we got
Last but not least:
10. When we sat in the cafeteria, see Siohban and Keely shouts "Hey Siohban!" which lead her to giving us a damn good telling off....in front of everybody.
Oh how I miss those lessons and you would be surprised (and happy) to note Keely and I did pass maths with an acceptable C grade under our belt.
Absence
Keely and I lost contact when she went off to university. Nothing major happened between us. It was just how things worked out. During this time, I was studying Law at another college and Keely was at the University of Derby doing her thing.
THEN on day....
Dance
Keely messaged me on MSN Messenger (showing our age now) to ask whether I would like to go to a dance class with her every Tuesday. Dance classes turned into doing dance shows and an opportunity to make plans for the forthcoming Saturday. Many nights out were planned at these classes. Like all good things, dance class met the inevitable and stopped. It didn't mean our friendship had to stop.
Photo Evidence
In no particular order, here are my favorite Keely moments (I am sure there are a lot more but my laptop crapped out on me)...
Its The Little Things
Ignoring the scary face above, I would like to mention:
She is a fantastic friend to have.
She cares for the people in her life and will defend those that can't.
She is always there when you need her and will make you laugh when your feeling down.
She is honest when you need her to be but will lie for you when you ask her too.
She allows you to be honest with her and respects what you have to say.
We have been through so much together and I would not change a thing.
:-)
