Rufford Abbey

A rare Sunday sunny day (and recovering from flu including some cabin fever) means we took a day trip out at Rufford Abbey country park.

Warning: picture heavy post (couldn't help it)

Rufford Abbey is a historic parkland, woodland and gardens situated in the north of Nottingham. It comprises of a medieval monastery, a craft center, sculpture trail and a lake.

As you can tell, we decided to by-pass the abbey and head towards the gift shop area first

/\ obligatory gift shop mirror picture

/\ Odd picture moment of a bench

/\ Little people details of the panels above

Benches were also a theme around the park as a commemoration to the deceased

/\ Someone kindly left seeds

We were eventually met with new friends...

We then walked towards the abbey to have a look inside

/\ These funny little guys were situated all over the top of the abbey walls

/\ Adam's obligatory photo bomb of the day

By the time we finished taking in the surprising Sunday sun and fresh air of the countryside we got very hungry. While driving to the Abbey, we noticed a local pub called White Post Pub and decided to go.

/\ Even with the shining sun, the temperature was really cold so I had a caramel latte and Adam had a gingerbread latte

/\ We had nachos to share for starters
As you can tell by the next picture we devoured these...

/\ For my main, I choose a Sunday dinner of turkey with the trimmings

/\ Adam choose a classic burger with a side of BBQ sauce

:-)
